Firefighters came to the rescue of a bird of prey trapped in Thirsk town centre today.
The bird, thought to be a sparrowhawk, was stuck under netting on the roof of the HSBC bank in the Market Place.
Concern had been growing for a number of days about the bird’s welfare.
Fierfighters from the town were alerted and came to help this morning.
The crew used a 13.5-metre ladder to get to the roof.
They then cut back the netting to allow for the bird, which was said to be tired, to escape.
A Thirsk Fire Station spokesperon said: “A positive outcome and thanks to everyone for their kind words.”
