The emergency services were called out last night after two cars ran into two buffalo.
The incident happened near Northallerton at about 8.15pm.
Firefighters from Northallerton responded to a request from North Yorkshire Police to swill the road down after the collisions.
Crews used a hose reel jet.
No people were harmed in the incident.
