A popular Bedale cafe is to close later this month with the owners taking early retirement to travel.
The owners of the Institution made the announcement this morning.
Diane and Nigel Parkin said in a post on social media: “It’s with a heavy heart that after 10 years Institution will close its doors on Saturday 28th September.
“Being part of the Bedale community has been a wonderful privilege, thank you for your support, friendship and love, we’ll miss you all.”
Nigel said the couple were retiring early to “pursue our wanderlust”.
“We travel extensively in a self-converted Scottish ambulance.
“We’ve operated the business for 10 years and it’s been a joy to be part of the Bedale community, but it’s simply our time to move on.
“Our intention is to travel, indefinitely and push the boundaries.
“We have our sights initially set on Central Asia but nothing is off the cards!”
Dozens of people have expressed their sadness at the closure but wish the couple well.
One customer said: “So sorry to hear this- but that’s me being selfish!
“Thank you for all you’ve done, and every good wish for your future adventures!”
Another added: “Sad news to hear Institution is closing, your amazing little cafe will be missed.
