Firefighters were called to a vehicle fire on the A1(M) on Friday.
The incident on the southbound carriageway between J51 Leeming Bar and J50 Baldersby was reported at about 10.25am on Friday.
Fire crews from Northallerton and Ripon responded to the fire.
They arrived to find a small fire within the engine compartment.
They extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.
The fire was caused by an overheating engine.
