Two motorcyclists who took to the road to raise money for breast cancer charities have been backed by Rishi Sunak.
Liz Atkinson and Tina Oxley – nicknamed the Fairy Bikers – have written a book about their journey across 1,500 miles of United States.
They called in to Mr Sunak’s Northallerton office to present him with a signed copy and to ask him to help get it stocked in their local bookshops.
The book – entitled Lipstick and Leathers – tells the story of their journey on Harley Davidson motorcycles from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, San Francisco and Monterey.
Mr Sunak said: “It was a great adventure for Liz and Tina and their account is very entertaining. I commend their decision to raise money for breast cancer research when they did the ride and also from the proceeds of the book.”
Tina Oxley, of Bedale, said: “We are very grateful for Mr Sunak’s time and support and also that of Peter Gibson, the MP for Darlington, in helping us with Waterstones in Darlington.”
After being contacted by Mr Sunak, Waterstones Northallerton agreed to stock the book and make sure it was available to order.
Lipstick and Leathers is published by Olympia.
