Firefighters called to fire in industrial unit

Firefighters were called to a fire in an industrial unit yesterday.

The blaze was reported at the site off Darlington Road, Northallerton, at about 6.15pm.

Two fire crews from Northallerton Fire Station responded to the fire in a single storey industrial unit.

The fire originated in a lithium battery charger on a toolbox, and spread to nearby electrical cables

The lithium battery and charger where badly damaged by fire, and the electrical cables suffered minor fire damage.

Smoke damage was confined to the wall behind the battery, and the property was heavily smoke logged.

he fire was extinguished prior to fire service arrival, using one dry powder fire extinguisher.

Crews inspected and ventilated the property.
