A Northallerton man has been sentenced for stealing goods worth more than £500 from a department store.
David Raisbeck, 41, from the town’s Prospect View, appeared before magistrates in York on Tuesday.
He admitted stealing goods worth £550 from Barkers in Northallerton.
He was sentenced to 23 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154.
The court heard the offence had been committed when the defendant was subject to an exclusion order after previous offending.
A separate charge of stealing from Boots in Northallerton was dismissed with no evidence offered by the prosecution.
