South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is running a drawing competition and is inviting children in North Yorkshire to put pen to paper and design a self-check-in kiosk.
The competition is open to paediatric patients, past and present, and children of the trust’s staff, aged up to 18 years old.
Those who enter will be in with a chance of having their design printed on the trust’s self-check-in kiosk at the south entrance of The James Cook University Hospital and the children’s outpatient department at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.
On top of that, they could also win a brand-new iPad with their design on it, thanks to InTouch with Health -the company that supplies the kiosks.
Jay Garratt, digital programme manager, said: “South Tees introduced patient check-in kiosks to improve patient experience and offer another way for people to check-in for their outpatient appointments, whilst at the same time improving data quality and shortening queues.
“Holding a competition for children to design a kiosk adds a personal touch, brings a little fun and will hopefully put a smile on many faces.
“The drawing could be of anything; all we ask is that it exudes positivity and brings happiness to the patients who use the kiosk. I am really excited to see what designs the children come up with.”
Cathy Brammer, lead nurse for children and young people at James Cook added: “As well as looking good, we hope the winning design will encourage children to get involved in checking in for their outpatient appointment.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the beautiful creations we receive; I already know it’s going to be difficult to choose just one winner. Good luck everyone.”
If your child is currently using the trust’s services or has previously been a patient and would like to get involved simply:
- Download the kiosk template from the trust’s website,
- Encourage your child to draw a picture on it, the brighter and happier the better
- Return it to the children and young people’s hub at the Friarage Hospital or the children’s outpatient department at The James Cook University Hospital
Alternatively, you can send the drawing in the post to:
- The children’s outpatient department, The James Cook University Hospital, Marton Rd, Middlesbrough, TS4 3BW
- The children and young people’s hub, Friarage Hospital, Northallerton, DL6 1JG
To be included in the competition, entries must be received by the trust before Thursday 31 August.
The winner will be announced on South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Facebook page on Wednesday 13 September.
