Five people who were arrested after they climbed on the roof of Rishi Sunak’s North Yorkshire home have been released on bail.

The activists were arrested yesterday following the stunt by Greenpeace, which was protesting about the Government granting new oil and gas licences for the North Sea.

Five people, three men and two women, were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and public nuisance.

North Yorkshire Police said in an update this morning: “All five suspects who were arrested following the protest in Kirby Sigston on 3 August, have been released on conditional police bail to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.

“The investigation remains ongoing.”
