Bedale AFC beat Dalton Athletic FC 3-1 on Saturday to lift the Heck Harrogate and District League Intermediate Cup.
The trophy presented to captain Jonny Coombs by the league president with the team lifting the cup for the first time since 1973.
Club chairman and treasurer Martyn Coombs said: “The game, with so much at stake, was played with great spirit and true sportsmanship and was well controlled by referee Matt Timmis.”
Bedale keeper Kieran Hare won man of the match for a number of good saves.
Although this is only the third Intermediate Cup win, Bedale AFC are no strangers to victory.
Partnered with Bedale High School and Bedale Junior football club, they received the FA Charter Standard Award in 2007 and the FA Community Club Award in 2005.
The club played in their infamous ‘Veg with Edge’ kit as they are sponsored by local sausage producers, Heck.
The team’s array of sausage-themed football kits has attracted media attention from around the globe.
In 2017, francetvsport flew in from Paris to cover the clubs weird and wacky shirts, from which the sales help to raise money for Prostate Cancer.
Bedale AFC are still in the running to win the Heck Harrogate League division one championship if they can score one goal in their final game of the season against Harlow Hill on Saturday, April 29.
