Ashley Dale (project manager at Integrated Health Projects), Sue Page CBE (Chief Executive of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust), local Richmond (Yorks) MP Rishi Sunak, Susan Watson (Friends of the Friarage co-chair) and Dr Vince Connolly (Friarage doctor and associate medical director at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Work has started on the new surgical hub at the Friarage Hospital.

The work is set to be completed in 2025.

A ceremony was held ahead of the construction work starting.

NHS bosses say the new hub will allow the hospital to more than double the number of operations they carry out annually.

Once opened, it will replace the existing operating theatres with a modern hub including six operating theatres, two minor-operating theatres and a surgical admission and day hub.
