Participants from Hambleton Athletics and Running Club’s (HARC) Couch to 5k programme travelled to Fountains Abbey Parkrun to achieve their graduation 5km runs.
A number of club members, alongside coaches Ruth Hancock and Nigel Haresign, turned out to offer their support and congratulations, all under the watchful eye of head coach, Chris Lees.
Club leaders say the C25k programme doesn’t just cater for those who have never run before.
Graduate Hayley Holmes said: “The HARC Couch to 5k programme has been a fantastic experience for me.
“Having been an independent runner for a number of years, the programme gave me structure and techniques to improve my fitness and prevent injury.
“The coaches have been approachable, knowledgeable and supportive. Training with a group has created camaraderie and friendships.”
Coach Nigel Haresign added: “Helping others to achieve and maximise their own potential is why I became a coach and the recent graduation of the spring C25k participants was testament to the effort put in by all who undertook the programme.
“I whole heartedly recommend that anyone of any fitness level who wants to take a positive step forward to a fitter and more confident self in a supportive run for all ethos should sign up.”
HARC’s next C25k programme begins in May.
