Vintage tractors from up hill and down dale will be descending on Thirsk on Sunday as part of a fundraising tractor run organised by Peter Wright, from TV’s The Yorkshire Vet.
More than 30 tractors will be taking part following a route from Carlton Husthwaite to Thirsk Auction Mart, with a break in Thirsk Market Square from around noon.
The event has been organized by Peter to support Herriot Hospice@The Lambert appeal, to open a hospice at the former Lambert Memorial Hospital site on Chapel Street, Thirsk. Please note: the tractor run is now full and cannot take any more vehicles.
The tractor run sets off from Carlton Husthwaite at 9.30am, following a route taking in Kilburn , Great Thirkleby, Thirsk Market Square (approx. 11.30am-12), Thirsk Auction Mart, Sowerby, Kirby Whiske and Maunby. All timings are approximate. People wishing to get a closer look at the tractors are welcome to see them on Thirsk Market Square and at Thirsk Auction Mart.
Peter said: “I am a big believer in charity beginning at home and it’s fantastic that people across Hambleton and Richmondshire will be able to benefit from this fantastic hospice facility. To be able to have this level of care on our own doorstep is priceless.”
Volunteers from Herriot Hospice@The Lambert will be out collecting donations on the day and any spare change would be appreciated.
The community appeal has raised over £1.2 million with a further £490,000 needed before the hospice opens its door later this year.
After the tractor run, Peter will be focusing on his next fundraising event to support the hospice – a grueling coast to coast cycle ride from Morecambe to Bridlington, from June 7-9.
