A Thirsk man has been jailed for an assault and possessing a knife.
Michael Brown, 29, of Long Road, appeared before magistrates in York on Friday.
He pleaded guilty to several charges including possessing a folding pocket knife with a blade over three inches.
Brown was found with the knife at The Dock , Robin Hood’s Bay on August 26, last year.
On the same day he assaulted a woman and threatened the same woman with violence.
The defendant pleaded guilty to all three charges, as well as to failing to surrender to custody after being released on bail.
The court heard it was Brown’s second offence involving a knife.
He was jailed for 152 days and ordered to pay a fine of £154.
The court also issued a restraining order preventing the defendant from contacting his victim for five years.
