Brompton man in court over pub assault

A Brompton man has been found guilty of attacking another man in a Northallerton pub.

Paul Toman, 63, of Corber Hill, Brompton, faced trial at York Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

He had denied assaulting the man and causing actual bodily harm in the Nags Head, in Northallerton High Street, but was found guilty.

The incident happened on August 22, 2021.

The defendant was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison but the sentence was suspencded for 12 months.

He was also ordered to pay compensation of £400 and issued with a four-month curfew to be at home between the hours of 8pm and 7am.

The curfew will be monitored with an electronic tag.
