Nine vehicles involved in A1(M) smash

The emergency services say nine vehicles were involved in yesterday’s serious collision on the A1(M).

The crash happened on about 12pm on Wednesday on the southbound carriageway between the Dishforth and Boroughbridge junctions.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said nine vehicles were involved in the collision.

A woman in her 30s was extracted from the vehicle by crews and transported to hospital via road ambulance.

Six other people were treated at scene for minor injuries and were out of the vehicles on arrival of fire crews.

Firefighters from Northallerton, Knaresborough, Thirsk and Ripon alongside their incident support unit responded to the incident.

Crews used cutting gear, spinal board, first aid pack and stabilisation equipment at this incident.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene.
