Thornton Le Moor’s cricket pavilion has been transformed with the help of council cash.
The project which has been split into three phases, included a complete overhaul of the interior and exterior of the current pavilion to create a more modern and inviting pavilion.
Phase one saw the old and unsightly portaloo, shower block and machinery stores removed, and an extension added thanks to £4000 from Hambleton District Council’s Making a Difference Fund.
It included new larger changing rooms, toilets and showers and new storage facilities for the equipment. The exterior cladding was also replaced.
Phases two and three will see a disabled access created as well as a bar and large communal room.
Ward member councillor Andrew Robinson, who supported the application, said: “The club wanted to create a modern facility that would become a social hub for the whole of the village.
“The refurbishment work has absolutely achieved that and made such a difference to Thornton Le Moor, now and for many years to come.”
