Two men charged after death of man outside Thirsk pub

Two men are due to appear in court following the death of a man after an incident in Thirsk.

Alan Barefoot, 32, suffered significant head injuries in an incident outside a pub in Thirsk Market Place on October 16 last year.

He sadly later died in hospital.

Following an investigation by the North Yorkshire Police’s major investigation team, a 22-year-old man from Thirsk has been charged with the manslaughter of Mr Barefoot.

A 25-year-old man, also from Thirsk, has been charged with affray resulting from the same incident.

Both charged men are due to appear at York Magistrates’ Court on 18 August 2022.

No further action was taken against two other men who were arrested during the course of the investigation.
