Plans have been drawn up to convert the former HSBC bank in Northallerton into a cafe bar.
A planning application has been submitted to Hambleton District Council by Loungers UK Limited for work to the Grade II listed building in High Street.
Documents submitted with the application say the work would be mainly internal with the creation of a kitchen, toilets and bar serving area.
The report from the applicants states: “The works, as a whole, would not have an impact on the historic fabric of the building.
“We believe the proposed works would respect the buildings original features and in turn, will not have a negative impact on the building or surrounding area.”
The branch shut in August as part of a nationwide programme of closures by HCBC.
The company currently has 137 outlets nationwide.
A similar application has been submitted to convert the former HSBC in Richmond to a Loungers venue.
