A steam locomotive is set to run on the Wensleydale Railway this Christmas with services restarting to Leyburn.
The engine, Black Five, will be haul 42,000 people over the festive period for the popular Polar Express rides, which are already a sell-out.
The locomotive will also haul two mince pie specials between Christmas and New Year on December 27 and 28, with an additional diesel-hauled (Class 14 no. D9523) mince pie special on the December 29.
The Wensleydale Railway will be operating diesel trains between Leeming Bar, Bedale and Leyburn stations on all three days.
An additional diesel running day (Class 37 no. 37250) will be operating between Leeming Bar and Constable Burton on December 24.

Chris Williams,Wensleydale Railway general manager, said: “Following an extremely difficult eighteen months and after having to cancel our services last Christmas we are thrilled to be welcoming a Black Five to the railway.
“Not only will the engine work throughout the sell-out Polar Express Train Ride events it will also operate on two days between Christmas and New Year.
“This is the first time a Black Five has visited us here at Wensleydale and we are anticipating that this will be an extremely popular event.”
