A swimmer was rescued and given CPR after suffering a medical emergency at Stokesley Leisure Centre today.
The swimmer was airlifted to hospital following the incident.
The centre was closed while the incident took place but has since reopened.
The centre is run by Hambleton District Council.
A council spokesperson said: “There was an medical emergency at Stokesley Leisure Centre earlier today involving a customer who was swimming.
“Our staff performed a rescue and administered CPR.
“The customer was taken to hospital by air ambulance.
“As a result of the incident and following our emergency procedures we closed the pool.
“The centre has since re-opened, however, our main pool remains closed as we have to carry out essential cleaning protocols.
“Our thoughts are with the customer whilst they receive medical care.”
