Man appears in court over Northallerton axe incident

York Magistrates' Court.

A man has appeared in court charged with attacking the occupant of a home in Northallerton while carrying an axe.

Thomas Junior Marshall, 25, was arrested following an incident at a house in Knotto Bottom Close, on Thursday.

It is alleged the defendant, of no fixed address, attempted to inflict grievous bodily on a man during a burglary at the property while in possession of an axe.

He is also accused of assaulting another man during the incident.

The defendant has also been charged with stalking a woman at a different property in the town over an eight-day period in October, and causing £500 of damage to a van again on Thursday.

Mr Marshall was remanded in custody to appear at York Crown Court later in the month.
