A Northallerton charity which provides a range of experiences for for those with learning disabilities is inviting everyone to its open evening next month.
Pendragon Community Trust is holding the event on Wednesday 3 November from 4 – 7pm to give people the chance to see what Pendragon has to offer to the local community and beyond.
The multi-sensory centre is the only such facility in the area and uses the latest technology which provides for the extensive use of sound, light and sensory equipment to encourage development.
It motivates and builds confidence, thus enabling self- expression and fun! There are full hoisting facilities and a purpose-built changing room.
Pendragon Community Trust was formed in 2000 by its first chairman, David Kerfoot who stepped down last year after 20 years.
Elaine Averis, the new chair, said: “This event is to celebrates our 20th anniversary which we had hoped to hold last year but was delayed due to the Covid pandemic.
“It is also our chance to say a massive thank you to David which without him and his small, dedicated team, not forgetting the massive support received from all of the Kerfoot family, the success of the Trust would not have been possible.
Despite the Pandemic we have survived and are now back fully open and look forward to welcoming both old and new clients.”
The Centre was opened 4 July 2016 after many years of fund raising and generous donations from a whole list of “white Knights” which enabled the Charity to buy the building and then equip the building to the very high standard, to ensure that only the very best is available for the people who come along to use the facilities.
Pendragon also offers: baby groups, gift vouchers, themed weeks, birthday parties, end of year celebrations, Santa’s grotto, and charity events such as: Northallerton10k run, and Rotary Club tombola’s.
The Centre can be found at Unit 15, Omega Industrial Village, Thurston Road, Northallerton, DL6 2NL.
