A motorist has lost his licence for two years for driving while under the influence of drugs.
Robert Etherington, 24, of Meadow Lane, Snape, near Bedale, appeared before magistrates in York on Monday.
The court heard he was found to have driven a Vauxhall Astra on the A19 near Thirsk after taking ketamine on January 9 this year.
The defendant admitted the charge.
He also admitted possessing as small bag of the class B drug on the same day.
The defendant admitted the charges and was fined a total of £369 and was banned from driving for two years.
A further charge of failing to stop after a minor road traffic accident was withdrawn.
The court heard the defendant’s guilty pleas were taken into account when passing sentence.
