Police have made an arrest in connection with a number of sexual assaults in Northallerton.
Officers say a local man is being investigated following the incidents in January.
At least three women were assaulted in the town.
One incident happened in Mowbray Road at around 5pm on Friday, January 22 as the woman, who was aged in her early 20s, was stood alone at the Mowbray Road/Turker Lane junction.
The suspect approached the victim from behind and without warning sexually assaulted her before running off down Turker Lane in the direction of Brompton Road.
He was described as white, around 5ft 10in tall, slim build with a pale complexion.
In another incident, a female jogger had her bottom slapped by a man in Brompton Road at 5.15pm on Tuesday, January 5.
The suspect was also described as around 5ft 10in and slim.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “We would like to update you that at the end of last year there were a small number of sexual offences against female runners in the Northallerton area.
“Following a further offence last week, a male from the local area has been arrested and is currently under investigation for four offences.
“If any one has any further information regarding these offences then please get in touch.”
