Bikers invited to follow fellow motorcyclist on final journey after fatal crash

Bikers from across the region have been invited to follow a fellow motorcyclist on his final journey after a fatal collision last week.

Mick Lynas, 57, from South Kilvington, near Thirsk, died in a crash with another rider on the road between Masham and Leyburn on Sunday, April 25.

Daughter Eve, who was riding with her father at the time of the accident, said her father was much loved by all of his family and was an amazing dad and husband.

His family have invited bikers to join the funeral procession which will take place next month.

Riders should meet at the village green in South Kilvington at 12.45pm on Monday, May 17.

Mick’s family have requested bikers to wear a Hawaiian shirt for the ride to Teesside Crematorium, in Acklam Road, Middlesbrough, if possible.

The collision happened at round 11.50am on Sunday just outside Masham on the road towards Leyburn.

A blue BMW R1200RT motorbike was travelling along the road from the direction of Leyburn.

It was in collision with a red Moto Guzzi motorbike travelling the opposite direction towards Leyburn.

Mr Lynas and a 59-year-old man were pronounced dead at the scene.

Both men were from North Yorkshire.
