Visitors to Northallerton will see work on the high street is now underway which will result in a new look high street for the town, namely a new a town square which will offer a fresh, spacious and pleasant open space where events can be held or people can stop to enjoy the space or to meet up with friends.

The work will significantly improve the look and feel of the high street, making it an attractive place to live, work and visit for years to come.

Leader of Hambleton District Council, Councillor Mark Robson said: “We are delighted that once again our market towns will be filled with shoppers and visitors as we take another step closer to normality and recovery from the Covid crisis.

“It’s hard to put into words how challenging the last year has been for our businesses and Monday really is a milestone in terms of our economic recovery as a district.

“As out towns begin to open up again, it’s vital that we all continue to follow the rules around social distancing, regularly hand washing and wearing a face covering in enclosed spaces, so we can continue on the path to normality.

“My message is simple, from next week, please come and discover Hambleton and what we have to offer, but please do it safely.”
