Roads on a Thirsk estate to close next month for resurfacing work.
Officials say arrangements have been made to minimise disruption for residents of the Norby estate while the work takes place.
North Yorkshire County Council intends to carry out the maintenance from Tuesday, 21 July, to the morning of Friday, 24 July.
Road bosses say this will require a full closure of the estate roads between 7am and 6pm each day, which means there will be no vehicular access and it will not be possible to park on the roads.
Cllr Don Mackenzie, executive member for access, said: “We are very pleased to be carrying out these repairs and at the same time wish to minimise disruption to residents of the estate.
“To ensure that they have adequate parking, the B1448 will be closed to through traffic between the A168 and Marage Road and parking enforcement will be temporarily suspended.
“We have also liaised with Hambleton District Council to provide residents with a pass that will allow them to use the Marage Road car park free of charge while the work is being done.
“The work has been planned to avoid Monday’s market day and arrangements have been made to accommodate the refuse collection on the estate on Friday.
“These measures are designed to reduce disruption as much as possible, but we apologise for any inconvenience and request residents’ cooperation to help to ensure the work can be done efficiently and safely.”
Cllr Gareth Dadd, deputy leader and member for Thirsk, said: “After many years of lobbying and waiting, this is excellent news and the estate deserves this to be completed.
“I wish to urge all residents to work with us to ensure we get this completed as quickly as possible and adhere to the requests by removing vehicles for the short duration needed. We can avoid an over-run if we work together.”
Officials say it may be necessary to change the start date or duration of the work should unforeseen circumstances, such as significant weather events or emergencies on the highway network, arise.
