A farmer managed to remove pigs from a barn before it was destroyed by fire at Yafforth, near Northallerton, yesterday.
Fire crew from Northallerton, Bedale and Thirsk were called to a barn fire on Monday afternoon.
Crews are currently still in attendance damping down.
The incident involved a barn measuring approx 70m x 15m containing pigs, a feeding system and a workshop.
The fire is believed to have originated in the workshop area of the barn and caused 100 per cent fire damage to the building.
The fire also spread to a storage shed and three storage containers all of which were destroyed.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the famer had managed to remove the pigs from the barn and no animal were injured.
The farmer used three extinguishers prior to the fire brigade’s arrival.
Crews used three main jets, three hose reel jets, a light portable pump, water bowser, breathing apparatus, thermal imaging cameras and shovels.
The fire is believed to have started due to a spark from a grinder.
