Drainage investigation work to help design a scheme to prevent flooding in Aiskew will start next week.
North Yorkshire County Council’s highways department is undertaking the works on Bedale Road (former A684) and Jubilee Road.
Work will begin on Monday and will last for ten days, Monday to Friday.
There will be a full road closure of the Bedale Road (former A684) from 8am to 5pm, with traffic lights in operation overnight.
This investigation is required to confirm the alignments and levels of the existing drainage system and utility services in the area, to make sure the installation of a new drain is viable.
“The work is essential to help us design a scheme to resolve a recurring flooding problem in Aiskew,” said County Councillor John Weighell, member for Bedale.
“We hope that residents and road users will appreciate the long-term benefits when we have a plan to alleviate flooding in place.”
Vehicle access to some properties will be affected, and residents are asked to park vehicles at an alternative location if possible.
County Councillor Don Mackenzie, Executive Member for Access, added: “We apologise for any inconvenience the works will cause but every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum. We thank road users for their cooperation to help ensure an efficiently and safely executed project.”
