North Yorkshire Police have warned they will issue fines to those who break the rules on travelling.
With forecasters predicting warmth and sunshine this weekend, the force is reminding the public that the Government has urged people to stay at home and not make unnecessary journeys.
In a statement, the force said: “As we are all aware, this weekend is going to very sunny.
“Can I please take a moment to remind you what the Government has instructed.
“I know most of you have been on lock down for two weeks and the temptation will be high to get out, but please, please stay at home.”
The force added: “Yesterday there were 684 new deaths in the UK.
“The best way to make a difference is to stay at home, enjoy the sun in your garden if you can.
“If you do breach the stay at home rules, we can issue fines, we would rather not, we would rather you listened to the Government and stay at home.”
