Thousands join Hambleton COVID19 mutual support help groups

Thousands of people have signed up to new COVID19 community groups formed to help the vulnerable and those self-isolating get the help they need.

Officials say the groups provide a vital link between the local authorities, the local NHS services and the people who can offer, and those who may need, help.

One of the groups is Northallerton Covid 19 Support.

Jennifer Bell, one of the group coordinators, said: “We are a community of 1,500-plus Northallerton area residents who have voluntarily come together to make sure the most vulnerable people in our community are taken care of during this difficult time.

“We are working with local organisations and community groups including Hambleton Foodshare, Hambleton Community Action, COVID19 OAP support group & local council services to help ‘plug the gaps’ in service for our most vulnerable residents at a time where demand for help will be great.

“We host our information board in a group on Facebook which anyone, volunteer or person in need, is welcome to join.”
