A Hambleton GP surgery has been deep cleaned as a precaution following the visit of a patient this week.
The measures come as concerns grow about the impact of coronavirus.
However, health chiefs say there has not yet been a confirmed case of the virus in North Yorkshire.
A spokeswoman for Glebe House Surgery in Bedale said that a patient contacted 111 whilst at the practice for an appointment and was then advised to go home.
It is understood the incident happened on Tuesday.
The spokeswoman said the practice took appropriate measures to deep clean the waiting room.
They said the practice was not closed at any point and has been operating as ‘business as usual’.
They added that they continue to advise patients as per advice from the Department of Health and Social Care and to contact 111 with concerns over symptoms.
A soldier at Catterick Garrison is in self-isolation after coming down with flu-like symptoms.
The Army has stressed that the action is only being taken as a precaution and the man has not been tested for coronavirus.
A spokesman for Europe’s biggest Army base said the soldier has recently returned from holiday.
The Army has declined to say where the soldier had been, but said it was not northern Italy where there has been a large number of cases of the virus.
They added: “A soldier has come back from holiday with flu-like symptoms.
“They have rung 111 and the symptoms are deemed to be such that they do not need to be tested.
“But as a precaution he has self-isolated.”
NHS Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby Clinical Commissioning Group said there were currently no reported confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) within the North Yorkshire area.
