Police appeal after motorist injured in suspected fail-to-stop collision on A19

Police are appealing for witnesses after suspected fail-to-stop collision on the A19 at Crathorne.

The incident occurred on the northbound carriageway at around 12.05am this morning.

It involved a black Vauxhall Corsa and an unknown vehicle which did not stop at the scene.

The driver of the Corsa, a 23-year-old man from Hartlepool, suffered a slight cut to his head and whiplash after his car came off the road and overturned in a ditch.

He was treated by paramedics.

The car had to be recovered and the road was clear by 1.15am.

The Highways Agency assisted with the incident.

Police are seeking witnesses to the collision or for the driver of the other vehicle to come forward to help the investigation.
