Food lovers in Thirsk will now be able to buy from some of the best producers in the area every month.
A farmers market will now take place in Thirsk Market Place on the first Sunday of every month with the first one taking place on Sunday, February 2 from 10am to 3pm.
Hambleton District Council’s vibrant market towns team, which focuses on developing projects that will enhance the vibrancy of Hambleton’s traditional market towns, has worked with Northern Dales Farmers’ Market to see it return to Thirsk.
“This is a big coup for us,” said Councillor Peter Wilkinson, deputy leader and portfolio holder for economic development.
“The Northern Dales Farmers market is one of the UK’s largest organisations of its kind, running local food markets at locations almost every weekend across North Yorkshire, Teesside and County Durham.
They attract a lot of visitors and been rated as being one of the top 20 farmers market in the UK.
Our markets are important contributors to making our towns vibrant and we are keen to ensure they remain a key element of the market town experience for residents and visitors.”
All of the traders are independent family businesses.
