Two people injured in A19 crash

Emergency services have been dealing with a single-vehicle collision on the north-bound A19 near Mount Grace Priory in the Hambleton District.

It occurred at around 12.50pm today and involved a blue Vauxhall Adam which came off the road and crashed into trees.

Paramedics treated the occupants, a man and a woman, at the scene.

An air ambulance was called to assist which required both north and southbound carriageways to be closed for a short period of time.

The man and woman were taken by land ambulance to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

Their injuries are described as none life-threatening.

The Highways Agency managed diversions and the north-bound carriageway was fully open by 3.50pm.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room.
