Firefighters rescued a man from a house fire in Bedale today.
Crews from Northallerton, Bedale and Masham were called to Alexandra Court at 12.11pm.
The fire was in a second floor flat.
It started in a bedroom and is believed to have been caused by smoking materials.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and some breathing apparatus.
“The crews rescued a male occupant who wasn’t harmed.”
The only fire damage was to a wardrobe and its contents.
