Men appear in court after pub assaults

York Magistrates' Court.

Two Hambleton men have appeared in court for assault people in pubs.

The cases were heard on Thursday at York Magistrates’ Court.

In the first case, Thomas Mark Boyne, 28, of Topcliffe Road, Sowerby, Thirsk, was ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months after admitting three assault charges and one of affray.

The charges followed an incident at the Red Bear pub, in Thirsk, on July 28 last year when he attached two women and a man.

He was also ordered to pay £375 in compensation, costs and a victim surcharge.

In a separate case, Stephen Paul Turton, of The Bridge, Bedale, was ordered to carryout 60 hours of unpaid work after he admitted assaulting a woman.

The incident happened in the Black Swan pub, in Bedale, on December 8 last year.

He was also ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge totalling £175.
