A man has appeared in court charged with repeatedly raping and sexually assaulting a young girl.
Ricky Andrew Clench, 40, appeared at York Magistrates’ Court on Thursday accused of four counts of sex offences against a child.
Clench, formerly of Northallerton but now of Kennion Road, Harrogate, confirmed his name and address but did not enter any pleas to the charges, including an allegation that he raped the girl on no fewer than three occasions between August 1, 2017, and September 10, 2018.
Magistrates sent the case to Teesside Crown Court where Clench is due for another preliminary hearing later this month.
The prosecution alleges that between August 2017 and September 2018, Clench sexually assaulted the girl on no fewer than three occasions.
It also alleges that Clench sexually touched the girl on no fewer than three occasions between the same dates.
The defendant is also charged with attempting to cause or incite a girl to engage in sexual activity.
Clench will next appear at Teesside Crown Court on January 30 and was granted bail until that date.
