Police appeal for two witnesses to come forward after man charged with attempted murder

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a 43-year-old man suffered critical injuries.

Steffan Rhys Wilson, 25, of Llanybydder, in Wales, a soldier based at Catterick, appeared at York Magistrates’ Court today following an incident in Little Holtby, near Northallerton, at the weekend.

Police investigating the incident would like to speak to two people who may have vital information.

Detectives would like to trace a man and woman who left Club Amadeus in Northallerton at around 3am on Sunday, December 1 to get a taxi.

As they climbed into the back of their taxi they were joined by another man who sat in the front passenger seat.

Officers believe that the taxi first stopped in the Elm Avenue junction with Elm Court area of Northallerton before continuing to Little Holtby.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “We believe the man and woman may have vital information that could assist our investigation after a 43-year-old man sustained critical injuries following an incident in Little Holtby in the early hours of Sunday.

“Are you that couple? Do you have any information that could assist our investigation?”
