Two women had to be cut free from their vehicle following a road accident last night.
The crash occurred on the A170 near Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe, between Thirsk and Helmsley, at about 9.20pm.
Police and firefighters from Thirsk, Helmsley and Ripon were called to the scene following the head-on collision which involved a black Vauxhall Astra and a silver Suzuki Alto.
The two women, both in their late 20s, were trapped in one of the vehicles.

They were released by fire crews using hydraulic cutting gear.
The driver of the Astra and three females travelling in the Alto were taken to James Cook Hospital for treatment.
Their injuries are not believed to be serious.
The road was closed through Kilburn to the top of Sutton Bank while emergency services dealt with the incident and was reopened at 11.25pm.
