More than 30 people attended Northallerton’s toning suite first open morning.
The suite at the towns leisure centre which opened its doors 18 months ago is aimed at people who are keen to exercise but find it challenging due to weight or mobility problems.
“We had a steady stream of visitors throughout the morning with excellent feedback,” said Councillor Mrs Bridget Fortune, portfolio holder for leisure
“New users particularly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and wished they had known about it sooner, whilst existing users said it had improved their mobility.
“And it was also lovely to see a husband and wife in attendance who plan to work out together. Everyone said they will definitely recommend it to their friends.
“We will definitely hold more of these open mornings – it is an ideal opportunity for people to check out the facility in a stress free and friendly setting and for existing users to bring a friend along.”
The ten station facility includes a range of power assisted machines which are designed for use by anyone, regardless of age, mobility, weight or fitness level.
Many people use the toning suite to help manage long term conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, dementia, arthritis and asthma. The equipment is also ideal for post-stroke treatment and post-operative rehabilitation.
The suite currently has a membership offer available – anyone who joins before 30 June 2019 will get up to 30 per cent off their first three months membership. A free three day pass is also available for those who want to try it out first.
