Staff at Hambleton District Council have handed over £4,000 to 15 different charities by dressing down, running raffles and baking cake.
Once a month they wear their jeans to work paying to do so and budding bakers top up the funds by selling their homemade cakes.
“Employees are asked to nominate charities to collect for,” said Dr Justin Ives, chief executive.
“Some choose charities which are very close to their hearts such Herriot Hospice in Northallerton, St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington and Breathing Space in Northallerton.
“Others chose local charities which rely heavily on funding whilst others support national fundraising days for events such as Macmillan Coffee Morning and Versus Arthritis.
“It’s a great way of fund raising and helping such worthwhile causes.”
Breathing Space, Little Legs Coady, Crash Bang Wallop, Herriot Hospice, Romanby Netball Club, Macmillan Cancer Research, Bedale Junior Golf Club, Northallerton Air Cadets, Save the Children, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, St Teresa’s Hospice, Brompton Under 14’s Football Team, Versus Arthritis, Red Nose Day and Friends of Chernobyl’s Children have all benefitted in the last 12 months.
