Communities on the Hambleton leg of the 2019 UCI Road World Championships in September can apply for cash help for their celebrations.
The district council has opened up a community funding pot for towns and villages along the route when the men’s elite time trials set off from Northallerton on September 25.
Roadshows to help them plan for the event are also being held – on June 13 at the Forum in Northallerton and in July in Bedale Hall.
Northallerton BID is also organising a meeting for businesses in the town on July 8 at Northallerton Town Hall at 5.45pm.
Cyclists will ride through Romanby, Morton on Swale, Aiskew and Bedale on their way to a finish in Harrogate. The world championships pass through the district again on Saturday and Sunday September 28 and 29 – through West Tanfield.
Timings for the championships have been unveiled today – millions of spectators are expected to line the routes over the nine days of action, with the Yorkshire 2019 Para-Cycling International taking place on Saturday, September 21 before the championships themselves run between September 22 to 29.
