Plans have been submitted to boost the volume of affordable housing on a 925-home Hambleton estate.
Developers Thirteen Group have lodged a planning application with Hambleton District Council to build 97 homes on the Sowerbv Gateway estate, to the south of Green Lane.
Thirteen Group said 38 of the units would be shared ownership while the remaining 59 would be affordable rent.
It said the homes would be built in clusters across the site around five communal garden spaces, and where possible rear gardens would have gated access to a shared garden space.
A spokesman for the developers said: “Thirteen Group wish to develop the site to provide affordable housing, meeting the shortfall within Sowerby Gateway.
The high quality scheme will be an exemplar of design quality and present a flagship scheme for affordable housing, ensuring a desirable development.”
The proposal comes almost two years after the council gave developers Taylor Wimpey permission to cut the amount of affordable housing from 40 per cent to zero on another part of the estate.
Outline planning permission was given for estate partly because it would significantly boost the district’s affordable housing supply.
After the costs of building infrastructure, including a £7m junction off the A168, soared Taylor Wimpey had said it could no longer afford to provide affordable housing.
