Honey the sausage dog has shown a liking for Heck’s new vegan range.
Olivia Moore, 25, was amazed when Honey wolfed down a piece of cooked vegan sausage she accidentally dropped onto the floor of her kitchen.
From that moment on Honey was hooked and would beg for scraps whenever the aroma of vegan sausages filled Olivia’s home in Bedale.
And despite her lack of height she even made a daring raid on the kitchen table to gobble down her new favourite delicacy after a plate was left by unwary Olivia.
Her new diet has had some unexpectedly positive results.
Olivia explained: “Her coat has started looking really glossy since she developed a taste for vegan food so I guess it must be good for her.
“I work for a food company and I had been trying out some new recipes with our vegan range in the kitchen.
“I dropped a piece accidentally and was quite surprised at how enthusiastically she gobbled it up, I really didn’t expect that.
“Ever since she’s been after more and even managed to steal some from the table, which is quite impressive when your legs are as short as Honey’s.
“She’s got quite a good palette and surprisingly she likes the more spicy ones with beetroot and horseradish”.

Jamie Keeble, co-founder of Heck Sausages, who Olivia works for, joked that the little dachshund should become his chief taster.
He said: “We know there is a real trend for vegan food now, which is why we have developed this new range of sausages and burgers.
“But this is the first time we have heard that we have a fan with four legs. We will have to take her onto the pay roll and pay her in vegan sausages in future.”
