Hambleton voters reminded of postal vote deadline

Postal voters in next week’s local elections are being reminded they can vote up to the close of polls on May 2.

They can be returned until 10pm – and if the post is missed can be dropped into the Civic Centre in Northallerton or a Hambleton based polling station instead.

Voters are going to the polls to elect the 27 councillors for Hambleton District Council.

There are also eight parish and town elections taking place.

The 69,000 electors will use one of 93 polling stations across the district – the smallest is at Kirby Sigston  serving just 113 people, and the largest at Northallerton’s Forum which looks after 7503 voters.   The most unusual venue is the Leeming Bar Community Hub based at the Wensleydale Railway station.

The polling stations will be manned and supervised by 198 staff – with another 75 looking after the count which takes place the following day (3 May).

All election results will be posted on the district council’s website – hambleton.gov.uk/elections – and on the council’s facebook and twitter feeds.
