Two people have been charged with theft after a generator was stolen from a market trader in Northallerton yesterday.
The pair were arrested after a witness called police and a vehicle, a silver Peugeot van, was tracked by ANPR camera operators.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said: “We received a report that a generator had been stolen from a market stall holder on Northallerton High Street at around 10.50am on Wednesday.
“Following enquiries a 33 year-old man and a 37 year-old man were arrested shortly after in connection with the incident and both charged with theft.
“The 37 year-old was also charged with driving whilst disqualified and using a motor vehicle without insurance.
“They are both due to appear at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court on 19 March 2019 and the 37 year-old has been give bail conditions not to enter North Yorkshire other than for the court appearance.”
It is understood the generator was recovered.
The vehicle was seized.
