A woman was arrested after an incident with students today.
The woman was involved in an altercation with children as they walked to school and college.
A spokesperson said: “This involved her talking with the students which progressed to her pushing some of the students and pulling one student’s hair.
“As a result this lady was arrested by police and currently remains in custody.
“We would like to reassure students but also parents and the wider community that this is an isolated, low-level incident which should not cause concern or alarm.”
Police say they have stepped up patrols around the schools in Northallerton at opening and closing times over the coming days to reassure the community.
