Around 20 firefighters were called out today to tackle a tractor on fire.

The incident happened at a fram in Brompton, near Northallerton.

Crews from Northallerton, Bedale, Richmond and Thirsk were called to the blaze at just before 3pm.

They arrived to find the fire from a tractor had spread to a trailer and an area of rubbish measuring 20 x 20m.

Crews used three hose reel jets, a light portable pump and four breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.

A spokesperson for Richmond Fire station said the blaze was quickly brought under control after fire had spread quickly with the wind.

“If you are having any garden fires then keep them small, consider others effected by smoke and debris.

“Then always have a way of extinguishing the fire yourself.”
